Weekly Update

It's that time again...time to share with you a glimpse into our lives through the lens of my iPhone...

We've been busy busy busy! But not with anything special, just with everyday life! (And numerous trips to Hobby Lobby for Christmas decorations!)

We celebrated Thanksgiving with Nick's family on Thursday & mine on Saturday. I will be writing a separate post on Thanksgiving soon.

When we got back home after the holiday, we put up our Christmas tree & all our other Christmas decorations. I plan on writing a separate post on that too.

So what AM I going to share in this post you ask... Well, here you are...

Look who can tie her shoes! She's been working on it in OT & at school & passed the shoe tying test in PE last week. Yay Addy!

I moustache you a question Mommy!

My beautiful girl posing for a few pictures before school

Even though she's not smiling or looking at the camera, I just love this picture. She's so beautiful!

Wednesday night Addy & I had another girl scout meeting. I read Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer to the girls & we discussed how courageous Rudolph was. Then the girls made reindeer antlers & painted their noses with red glitter paint. They all earned their red petal.

Think he was cold?

On Thursday morning, Dennis the Menace, I mean Alex, painted his toenails pink! He went to the bathroom & I was distracted & didn't notice how long it had taken him until he ran into the living room & said "Look mom, don't you just love this!" Amazingly, the whole bathroom wasn't pink & he even put the lid back on the polish.

Alex had been going on & on about this RescueBot that he wanted. (I didn't even know what a RescueBot was.) So when we went to Walmart on Friday, we ventured over to the toy section & he directed me to it. He was so excited about his new toy, "a RescueBot that transforms into a taxi & it's legs turn into tailfins." That's the way he describes it. (He's such a boy... at 3 he knows about car tailfins & at 33 I still don't!)

This past weekend the kids & I went to the Reindeer Run & Jingle Jam at Addy's school. And again, I will follow up with another post on that soon. I promise!

And while we were at the Jingle Jam, here's where Nick was...
At the Georgia Dome watching the Alabama Crimson Tide win the SEC Championship!

And that is what we have been up to? How 'bout you?

Insta Friday

Here are some pictures from my phone from this week (& last!)

Captain Alex

We walked down to the playground for a little evening fun. Nick helped Alex play a little basketball.

And while the kids played on the playground, Nick & I had an intense game of teetherball! (I kicked his hiney!)

Alex & I went to a playgroup Halloween party.

Nick discovered the pumpkin pie blizzard. I tastes EXACTLY like pumpkin pie & even has pieces of crust in it. Pretty yummy!

We went to Chloe's 2nd birthday party. Alex wasn't so sure about giving Chloe her birthday present.

Addy made a scarecrow. Pretty good job for a 6 year old!

Monday night I took the kids to the Children's Museum for their Sensory Friendly Night. A separate post on that will follow soon.

Tuesday night Addy & I had a girl scout meeting. The girls earned their yellow friendly & helpful petal by packing boxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Wednesday morning we went to the park for playgroup.

Wednesday evening, the kids & I went for a walk. Addy made newspapers

And she & Alex delivered them to our neighbors' doorsteps.

While Addy was in dance, Alex & I walked over to TJ Maxx. He went straight for the hats!

The kids played outside yesterday evening. Addy tried her hand at golf.

And Alex played with chalk. (He said wrote tiger all by himself! I think we've got another smartie on our hands!)

And there you have it! Our life in the eyes of my iPhone!

Insta Friday

It's Friday again & this week I'm actually posting this on time! What!!! (I'm sure it's only because I have 2 sick kids that are both napping right now. So don't expect it to happen again, lol.)

Here is what has been going on in our home this week...

The kids played a lot of dress up...
Addy was a nurse. She's wearing a nurse hat & has a basket of rags, soap & band aids. Everything a nurse would need!

She also pretended to be a puppy. She put on puppy paw mittens, winter boots for furry legs & then made herself bowls of food & water.

And I'm not sure what this outfit is supposed to be, but it's definitely awesome!!!

Alex & I took a trip to Hobby Lobby to get a few supplies to make this.

And while we were there, we browsed the Christmas aisles. Aren't these stockings adorable!

Alex & I were playing hide-n-seek. It was his turn to hide. He found a great spot inside my shirt, lol!

The school nurse called me Thursday & said that Addy was running a low grade fever and complaining that her throat hurt.

She's still feeling bad today.

Alex was sick Wednesday & Thursday & then woke up today covered in hives. Literally from head to toe.

I finally got him to take some Benadryl. (We made a compromise. He wanted to mop the kitchen & I told him he could after he took his medicine. That's a win win for me!) It knocked him out & hopefully when he wakes up he'll look better.

As you can see, with 2 sick kids it's been a pretty low key week. I'm sure next week when they are feeling better we'll be back to our on the GO GO GO selves!

Insta-Friday

I've been so busy trying to get my house put back together these last 2 weeks that I haven't had much time to post on here. I didn't even get around to my Insta-Friday post last week. So this Insta-Friday has 2 weeks worth of pictures.

And here they are...

Alex wanted to wear knee pads like his daddy. But what's cooler than wearing knee pads on your knees? Wearing knee pads on your head! (It kind of looks like the welding hats my dad used to wear.)

Day 14:building...Texas Children's called last Monday morning & said they had a cancellation & Addy's developmental pediatrician could see her that afternoon. Which was great news because we were still on the waiting list for an appointment & I really wanted to have her check up before school started.

The kids love the big dancing pigs on the first floor.

A little coloring while waiting to see the doctor.
Addy had a GREAT yearly check up! Her doctor said that he thinks our decision to have Addy repeat Kindergarten is a good idea & he said that we have everything in place to help Addy be successful. Just what I wanted to hear!

Alex had been asking me for several weeks for a Jake and the Neverland Pirates boat. We looked at Target. They didn't have any & no, he didn't want any other toy. So I told him we would keep looking. The next morning I checked online before driving to Toys R Us, but they were sold out. And not just the Sugar Land Toys R Us, but all over Houston! I looked on WalMart.com & several local stores were sold out. My store said they had limited stock, so I called them & they had 2 left. So we quickly got ready & went straight to WalMart to buy his Jake boat. We got it & Alex could not be happier! (When Clark came over, he loved Alex's Jake boat & wanted to take it home with him. He cried when he had to leave it. Alex came over & hugged me & told me "Thanks Mom, you're the best hero ever!" Lol, I'm his hero for tracking down & buying him this boat. Definitley, score one for mom!)

Addy loves the Jake boat too.

Since Alex was getting his Jake boat, I let Addy pick out a toy too. She picked a FurReal puppy that barks and walks.

Last Friday night, Nick went & picked up Chipolte for dinner. While he was gone, the kids & I played Candy Land. I told Nick "Our idea of a fun Friday night sure has changed!" Ain't that the truth, lol!

Alex arranged all these beanie babies from some of his favorite shows. Think they have enough of these Ty babies???

The kids were playing with a Decorate a Face sticker set. Alex decided to decorate his face instead of the paper one.

Day 22: upside down...The dentist called & said my mouth guard was in. So I had to go & have it adjusted to fit just right. It's a different type than my last guard & it fits so much better. It's been less than a week & I can already feel the difference in the mornings. Yay for not clinching & grinding my teeth anymore!

Addy pretending to be a magician. She dressed up, put out some chairs for Nick & I to sit in & then put on a show. She made things disappear & then reappear. It was great!

On Wednesday we met some friends at Lone Star Bounce. Alex rode the mechanical bull. He didn't last the whole 8 seconds.

A good time was had by all!

We were all hungry when we left Lone Star Bounce, so we stopped at Sonic for lunch. I let the kids get out of their seats & play in the car while we ate. Addy took my sunglasses & gave me the teenager duck face. So funny!

Beautiful girl

Addy & Alex were playing hide & go seek. Do you see where Alex is hiding? Lol! (It looks like a great hiding place, but Addy had just hid in the exact same place & he was laughing the whole time.)

Today we went swimming at Addy's friend's house. (He's a little boy also on the spectrum & we've been getting together throughout the summer to let the kids play.) We swam for about an hour & then Addy said "Get out, let's go home." And so we did.

As you can see, we really haven't done that much over the past couple of weeks. Except for CLEAN MY HOUSE! And now that that's done, we can get back to enjoying our summer.
So hopefully next week, I'll have a lot more pictures to share with you.
