Insta-Friday

I've been so busy trying to get my house put back together these last 2 weeks that I haven't had much time to post on here. I didn't even get around to my Insta-Friday post last week. So this Insta-Friday has 2 weeks worth of pictures.

And here they are...

Alex wanted to wear knee pads like his daddy. But what's cooler than wearing knee pads on your knees? Wearing knee pads on your head! (It kind of looks like the welding hats my dad used to wear.)

Day 14:building...Texas Children's called last Monday morning & said they had a cancellation & Addy's developmental pediatrician could see her that afternoon. Which was great news because we were still on the waiting list for an appointment & I really wanted to have her check up before school started.

The kids love the big dancing pigs on the first floor.

A little coloring while waiting to see the doctor.
Addy had a GREAT yearly check up! Her doctor said that he thinks our decision to have Addy repeat Kindergarten is a good idea & he said that we have everything in place to help Addy be successful. Just what I wanted to hear!

Alex had been asking me for several weeks for a Jake and the Neverland Pirates boat. We looked at Target. They didn't have any & no, he didn't want any other toy. So I told him we would keep looking. The next morning I checked online before driving to Toys R Us, but they were sold out. And not just the Sugar Land Toys R Us, but all over Houston! I looked on WalMart.com & several local stores were sold out. My store said they had limited stock, so I called them & they had 2 left. So we quickly got ready & went straight to WalMart to buy his Jake boat. We got it & Alex could not be happier! (When Clark came over, he loved Alex's Jake boat & wanted to take it home with him. He cried when he had to leave it. Alex came over & hugged me & told me "Thanks Mom, you're the best hero ever!" Lol, I'm his hero for tracking down & buying him this boat. Definitley, score one for mom!)

Addy loves the Jake boat too.

Since Alex was getting his Jake boat, I let Addy pick out a toy too. She picked a FurReal puppy that barks and walks.

Last Friday night, Nick went & picked up Chipolte for dinner. While he was gone, the kids & I played Candy Land. I told Nick "Our idea of a fun Friday night sure has changed!" Ain't that the truth, lol!

Alex arranged all these beanie babies from some of his favorite shows. Think they have enough of these Ty babies???

The kids were playing with a Decorate a Face sticker set. Alex decided to decorate his face instead of the paper one.

Day 22: upside down...The dentist called & said my mouth guard was in. So I had to go & have it adjusted to fit just right. It's a different type than my last guard & it fits so much better. It's been less than a week & I can already feel the difference in the mornings. Yay for not clinching & grinding my teeth anymore!

Addy pretending to be a magician. She dressed up, put out some chairs for Nick & I to sit in & then put on a show. She made things disappear & then reappear. It was great!

On Wednesday we met some friends at Lone Star Bounce. Alex rode the mechanical bull. He didn't last the whole 8 seconds.

A good time was had by all!

We were all hungry when we left Lone Star Bounce, so we stopped at Sonic for lunch. I let the kids get out of their seats & play in the car while we ate. Addy took my sunglasses & gave me the teenager duck face. So funny!

Beautiful girl

Addy & Alex were playing hide & go seek. Do you see where Alex is hiding? Lol! (It looks like a great hiding place, but Addy had just hid in the exact same place & he was laughing the whole time.)

Today we went swimming at Addy's friend's house. (He's a little boy also on the spectrum & we've been getting together throughout the summer to let the kids play.) We swam for about an hour & then Addy said "Get out, let's go home." And so we did.

As you can see, we really haven't done that much over the past couple of weeks. Except for CLEAN MY HOUSE! And now that that's done, we can get back to enjoying our summer.
So hopefully next week, I'll have a lot more pictures to share with you.

Insta-Friday

It's Friday again, so it's time to share with you some pictures taken on my iPhone this week.

Friday night I went to see Magic Mike with a couple of friends. I was there for the dancing & not for the plot & the dancing DID NOT disappoint!

By Saturday, my kids were finally feeling better after a week long viral infection. So when it started raining, they grabbed a couple umbrellas & ran outside to play in the rain.

Sunday was July 1st & that meant it was time for a new Instagram a Day photo challenge.
Day 1: self portrait

Nick ran to the store Sunday morning to grab a few things, including toliet paper. When no one was looking, Alex grabbed the pack of toliet paper & took it to the playroom. And this is what I found! Looks like Captain Destructo struck again.

But at least it didn't all go to waste. I wrapped Addy up like a mummy.

A strange (but effective) way to eat a banana, lol.

A few flowers blooming in my backyard. The pink one is a confederate rose & the white one is on an okra plant.

My first tomatoes of the year

This giant butterfly flew up & landed on my lantana. Addy walked right up to it & almost touched it before it flew away.

Day 2: Busy... This is our list of things to do over the summer.

Monday night Mommy & me yoga

Tuesday afternoon we drove to Beaumont for the 4th of July. Nick & I went on our monthly date Tuesday evening. We went to Carmelas (our favorite restaurant) & to see The Amazing Spiderman.

Day 3: The best part of my day... I was in a funk about my upcoming birthday & these 3 things right here made me feel much much better!

Waiting for the movie to start. And by the way, The Amazing Spiderman was amazing!

Wednesday morning, Addy drew this picture of a computer. I said "Oh look, she got some of the keys in the right place." But honestly, I don't know the order of all the letters on the keyboard, so I wasn't sure which ones were correct. So Nick pulled out his phone & we looked at the keyboard & yep, you guessed it, they were ALL in the right place! Do you know (without looking) the placement of all 26 letters on the keyboard??? I didn't think so, lol! But apparently my 6 year old daughter does.

Day 4: Fun...We celebrated Independence Day by swimming

and eating banana pudding

and popping fireworks.

Alex LOVES the song Starships by Nicki Minaj. He makes us listen to it over & over & over again in the car. He wants it loud & sings along & dances. "Starships were menat to fly, Hands up & touch the sky"

Day 6: Chair...Mommy & Addy sitting on a bench eating lunch at Chili's.

Daddy & Alex being silly

And there you have it, a small glimpse at this past week. I hope you all had as great a week as we did!

Insta-Friday

I've decided to start doing a weekly blogpost called Insta-Friday. The idea comes from another blog called Life Rearranged.

Basically the concept is to only post pictures that were taken this week on my phone. Some of these I have posted on Instagram & others I have not. I like this idea because I take A LOT of pictures on my phone & this is an easy way for me to make sure I get them all posted on here.

So here you are, our life this week via Robin's iPhone...

Day 1 of Instagram a Day June: Yellow...  While at my mom's on Saturday, I took this picture of a sunflower growing in her backyard. Isn't it beautiful! And she didn't even plant it, it grew from birdseeds!

Guess what AWESOME song I heard on 90s on 9 on Saturday... That's right... Ice Ice Baby by Mr. Vanilla Ice himself!
I could sing it to you if you really want me to because I remember all the words. You know you do too, lol!... Alright, stop, colloborate & listen, Ice is back with a brand new invention!

Sunday evening I walked in on this... Nick & the kids making cupcakes. And not just regular cupcakes, but Funfetti cupcakes with Hershey kisses in them. Oh were they good!

Day 4: Vegetables... My lunch before & after. I cut up a zucchini, a few tomatoes (that came from my mom's garden) & some spinach. I sauteed them in olive oil and then I added in some sliced grilled chicken, hot pepper garlic sauce & a little pasta sauce. I put that over sliced french bread, sprinkled it with Parmesan cheese & baked it in the oven for a couple minutes to make it crispy. Delicious!!

Wednesday we were playing in the sprinkler in the backyard. Addy grabbed the baby pool & dragged it over to the swingset. And made herself a water slide! GENIUS!

My sweet boy ran up to me & said "Look mommy, I picked you a unicorn flower!" It's really a weed, but whatever, it was the most beautiful weed in the world to me!

Alex is such a smartie. Just like Addy, he loves the alphabet. Here he is writing it with sidewalk chalk.

Day 6: The letter J... Pretty much at any time of the day, you can walk into my house & find letters all over the ground. Fabric, foam, paper, plastic... We have them all!

Thursday morning, I started running on the treadmill but I couldn't hear the TV. So I stopped it & slid off the back. But as I was slidding off, my foot slid under the back cover & ripped the skin off. Here's my bleeping foot... (Bleeping is what Alex calls bleeding.) And this bleeping foot bleeping HURT!

You know how you blow on your food when it's too hot... Well this is the way that Alex does it. He uses a straw, lol.

We went to the pool on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & again on Thursday.

We were at the pool on Thursday for literally like 5 minutes before it thundered. The lifeguards made everyone get out of the pool for 20 minutes. So we went to the playground by the pool to wait it out. Right before the 20 minutes were up, it thundered again so we ended up going home instead of swimming :(

Day 7: Strike a pose... Nick & his MySpace face (as Jessica called it.)

So there you go... A few highlights of our week through the lens of my phone.
