Weekly Update

Yeah, my laptop is fixed! I really thought I was going to have to buy a new one (which I really didn't want to do) but I finally found a place that was able to replace the screen!
And so now I'm back & it's time for a weekly monthly update.

They both start off in their own beds, but somehow, these 2 kiddos of mine always seem to end up in our bed. Or me in one of theirs.

Playing tetherball at the school playground. 4 feet, 1 shoe, that's how we roll!

I signed both Nick & myself up to run the 1/2 marathon at the Gusher in March. It will our first time to run a half. We won't be running for time, just to finish! (I've asked myself many many times WHY did I do this to us!)

I just love these pictures...
Addy crawled in the front seat while we were waiting to go in the the doctor's office. She flipped open the visor & started making silly faces in the mirror. It was so cute that I just had to take some pictures.

Loving on each other right before their flu vaccines

Alex & I went to Which Wich for lunch & he placed his own order.
PB&J on white, no crust. He even wrote his name.

Addy helped me make a pizza for dinner last week.
She made an A for Addy with the pepperonis.

I walked in on Alex licking the top of the salt shaker & he said "Mommy, don't take away my healthy snack." Umm sorry son, I'm pretty sure that doesn't count as a healthy snack!

Look at all my broccoli growing in my backyard. I should have some ready to pick soon.

Last weekend I took the kids to Maddi's birthday party. It was an art party. The kids got to paint & bring home these cute little smocks.

And this weekend, my mom, my aunt Susan & I went to see Temple Grandin speak. She was amazing!

We also went to Sienna Snow Day a couple of weeks ago & I'll be writing a separate post on that soon.

And that's all folks!

Spring Fun

Considering that it's already 2 weeks into summer, I figured I better get this blogpost finished.
We did lots of fun stuff this spring...

We played with sidewalk chalk.

Alex wrote these numbers

and these letters. Pretty impressive for a 3 year old I think!

And Addy wrote this... Arty Party!

We played in the sprinkler

and on the swinget.

We rode the baby roller coaster

and played soccer in the backyard.

Addy liked to be the goalie!

We worked puzzles

and played with cars.

We went to Chuck E. Cheese.

That's right, I beat the Flaming Finger AGAIN!

We blew bubbles.

and played with water balloons.

We ate ice cream cones... you've got to eat the bottom first!

We played in the rain

and jumped in muddy puddles.

And we rode bikes.

I just love hanging out with these 2 kiddos! They make for some really fun & interesting days!

Gardening

Last year I planted a potted garden (because of Pepper the dog.) It did pretty good. I got several peppers, tomatoes & strawberries.

Since we no longer have Pepper, this year I bought seeds & had plans for a great big garden in my backyard. But that didn't happen! I'm always so busy & I just didn't feel like putting that much effort into making a garden. So I didn't. But I did go ahead & plant the seeds. And we ended up with the saddest little garden that you've probably ever seen!

I started planting & Alex said that he wanted to help. He said he was going to go get a shovel & he came back with a spoon!

And yes, he did use the spoon as his shovel. (And I did too, lol!)

I dug a few trenches & Alex poured the seeds into them.

I told Addy to come help us. She came over, looked at what Alex & I were doing & then she ran off. I thought, ok, I guess she doesn't want to help... And then a couple minutes later, Addy comes back with these plant stakes that she had made.

Tomatoes

Corn

Beans

And so here's our little garden.

And look how much it's grown in just 2 weeks!

And since it has done so good, I'm planning on expanding it. I haven't exactly decided how though.

Here's another gardening project that I did. This big bush was right by my front porch and it attracted BEES! Not a good combination.

Everyday when we would get home, I could hear the bees buzzing around. I asked a couple of people what I could do to get rid of the bees & it seemed like my best option was to cut the bush down.

So that's what I did! And here's what I planted in it's place. 2 boxwoods, 2 knockout roses, 2 salvias, & 1 blue daze. I'm still waiting on my yard guy to come mulch it though.

I also planted 2 confederate roses (compliments of Pat) in my bakyard.

And 7 more along my fenceline. I can't wait for these to bloom!
