Play Ball!

For the 2nd year in a row, Addy played Spring baseball.
She played in the Sienna Dream Team league and she was on The Reds.

She's got the bat throwing down, lol!

Here she is with her sweet friend & teammate Norah.

On the day they took pictures, Addy loved it. She was so excited for the group picture that she was the very first one on the bench!

And then she ran to the photographer & asked to see the photos he had taken.

The last game of the season was on May 10th. There were donuts before the game, pizza afterwards, music & lots of fun! And some of the teachers & aides from the resource department at SOE came out to watch her & her friends play ball!

Addy had another great baseball season & I know she is looking forward to playing again next Spring.

Addy's Last Baseball Game

Addy's last baseball game for the spring season was June 1st.

The game was only one inning.
Addy's team, the Cardinals, fielded in the top of the inning.

And batted in the bottom.

As always, Addy had fun & did awesome!

After all the kids got a chance to bat, the game was over & it was time for the closing ceremony. All the parents & spectators put their hands together & made a tunnel. Then the DJ announced the players one at a time. They got to run through the tunnel & then they got a trophy & special t shirt.

It's Addy's turn.

Here she is running through the tunnel!

And here she is getting her trophy. (Which she is super proud of! She tells me all the time "I played baseball & I got a trophy.")

And here's her Dream Team t shirt.

There were still a few players left when Addy was done so she joined the parents in making the tunnel.

I have to say that I am a little sad to see this first season of the Dream Team come to a close. It really is such a fabulous league & we are blessed that Addy got to be a part of it. She had a lot of fun playing baseball & we are already looking forward to next spring when she will play again!

Lately...

Here's what we've been doing lately....
(And by lately, I mean like the last month or two.)

Eating ice cream
(Addy has decided that she likes ice cream. So now I get it for her just about everytime she asks for it because I'm super excited that she's added one more thing to her very limited diet!)

Playing Candy Crush (First I got Nick hooked & now Alex!)

Riding our bikes & being superheros

Eating donuts

And reading a 3D book. (Thanks MawMaw for the new book.)

Playing baseball in the backyard

And on the field.

Collecting bugs

And playing in the flowers.

Playing hide and seek
(Can you find Addy?)

and playing soccer.

Going to The Little Gym for Addy's dance class.
(And Alex has even been joining in the gymnastics part at the end. I'm so proud of him & I think I'm even going to sign him up for a class in the summer.)

We went to Peyton's birthday party

Where I got to spend some time with my BFF!

We've done a little shopping
And my son took off all his clothes & drew tiger stripes all over himself. Roar!

We painted our room. It was brown mustard yellowish color & now it's a milk chocolate color.

And bought a new mattresses. Alex helped me pick it out, the Serta icomfort Savant memory foam mattress.

I was doing crossfit 5 days a week until I strained my lower back muscle.

But now I'm doing this instead. (But at least I get to do it in my new comfy bed!)

And we celebrated Mother's Day by going to lunch at Don Julio's. And Nick got me a Kindle Fire HD since the kids have taken over both iPads & I can't ever read my books on them.

And the kids made me these super sweet cards!

And of course, we've been loving on each other. (I just love these pictures! They're proof that as much as these 2 fight, they really do love each other!)

We also went on Addy's field trip to the Bayou Wildlife Park, went to Camp Misty Meadows for a Girl Scout Horse program & Addy had tug of war & field day at school. I hope to do a separate blog post on each of those soon.

Strike Out Autism Skeeters Game

Last Sunday we went to an autism awareness event at the Skeeters' stadium. (For those of you who don't know, the Skeeters are Sugar Land's minor league baseball team.)

Hope for Three, an autism awareness & advocate group in Ft. Bend, organized this special event called Strike Out Autism. It was open for 100 families to come to the stadium & participate. Each child that came, so both Addy & Alex, were partnered with a volunteer to be their buddy for the day.

Addy & Alex's buddies were Vanessa & Mark. They were a married couple & they were very very sweet!

They took the kids on the carousel

and the playground while Nick & I were able to go chat with friends & relax a little.

The kids were also able to meet the Skeeters mascot Mo

and get their glove signed by some of the Skeeters players.

And then they both got a balloon animal. Addy got a pink cat & Alex got a green dog/dinosaur.

After the kids had played for about an hour, all the families & volunteers headed down to the field for a parade. The kids played a little catch while waiting for the parade to start.

And then we all walked around the stadium in the parade. Alex thought it was pretty cool to be a part of the parade & loved that everyone was cheering & waving as we walked by.

After the parade, the baseball game was starting. Hope for Three had a buffet for the families to eat but there was not anything on it that Addy liked. So we ended up leaving to get her some lunch & did not stay for the game.

Even though we did not stay for the game, we had a wonderful time. It was our first time to go to the Skeeters stadium & it was really cool. They have a playground, slash park, carousel & a swimming pool & you can see the field from all of those places. We definitely need to go back & actually watch a baseball game soon!
