MEH. HE. CO (Day 1&2)

The last weekend in April, Nick & I went to Mexico!! It was my first time to go to Mexico (well besides when we stopped in Cozumel for a day on that cruise a couple of years ago) and Nick's second.

We stayed at the Omni Beach Resort in Puerto Aventuras, which is a gated golf course community about an hour south of Cancun.

The hotel is a small 3 story boutique hotel right on the beach.

Here is the open air lobby that you walk into when you arrive!

And here is the pool overlooking the beach.

Once we got to the hotel, we pretty much just dropped our bags in our room, changed clothes & hit the beach!

We spent the rest of the day swimming & laying out,

walking along the beach

searching for shells

exploring the area

and watching the waves crash against the entrance to the marina.

The next morning, we had a yummy breakfast.
That. included. NACHOS!
(Which is definitely my kind of breakfast! Matter of fact, you could hold the eggs & just give me the nachos!)
And here was our awesome view during breakfast!

After breakfast, we took a taxi to Xpu Ha.

Which is a BEAUTIFUL beach about 5 miles south of where we were staying!

I mean just look at this place!! I would definitely rate it as one of the top 2 prettiest beaches I've ever been to!
(The other one being Kailua Beach on Oahu.)

We spent the day doing more of the same... swimming, laying out & walking the beach.

Before heading back to Puerto Aventuras, we ate dinner at the La Playa Xpu Ha Beach Club.

Where they had this fun sign!

Life As We Know It... April/May Edition

Here's what we've been doing lately...

We celebrated Autism Awareness month by lighting our house up blue for the month of April!

And by wearing our Autism Awareness shirts on WAAD.
And we celebrated Memorial Day with swimming & bbq!

We played with ducks.

and snowballs

and 'swatters.'

And I ordered baby Hatchimals for Addy and she shared them with the boys!
Alex bridged from a Wolf Scout

to Bear Scouts

and we went to Typhoon Texas for our end of the year Girl Scout party.

And the kids closed out the 2016-2017 school year with...

Alex's GT showcase

Addy's 4th grade musical

the SOE school carnival

Tug of War

and Field Day

4th grade Mini Society where Addy had to make something to sell to the other 4th graders for fake money. She ended up going with pokeball keychains made out of Sculpty clay. They were a BIG HIT with the 4th graders!!
And their end of the year awards ceremonies.

In Addy's class, they did a poetry cafe & Addy read one of her poems she had written. She got an award for being a Super Speller & her classmates voted her best artist!

Alex also read a poem during his awards & got all A honor roll, academic excellence in Reading, Science & Social Studies & was also voted best artist by his classmates! (I have 2 artistic children!!)

After 2 years, Alex had to say goodbye to his amazing teacher Mrs. Martin!!
She has been such a blessing to him these past 2 years & he will really miss having her as his teacher!

And since next year Addy will be moving to a brand new elementary school in Sienna, she had to say goodbye to these 3 amazing ladies who have been her sped teachers for the past 5 years!

And of course, the last day of school!

The end of the school year is always a busy time. Thank god for summer, sleeping late & no schedules! We need it after these last couple of months!

Hoppy Easter 2017

Hoppy Easter everyone!

This year for Easter, we went to CiCi & PopPop's on Saturday.

While there, PopPop drove us over to Brooke's house on the golf cart

to visit her sheep.

Then we rode down to the farm at the end of mom & dad's road

and fed & pet their cows!

When we got back to mom & dad's, we ate lunch
& then the kids hunted for Easter eggs.

And Dash even found some!

Saturday night, the Easter Bunny came & left lots of goodies for the kids. Luckily, I remembered to leave a note letting him know we'd be at MawMaw & Granddaddy's for the night!

After the kids opened all their Easter gifts, we dyed eggs

ate lunch
and had another egg hunt.

It was a fun holiday weekend celebrating with our loved ones!
