Back to School

The kids have been back in school for several months now!
Matter of fact the whole first semester is almost over!

Here are some of the things they've done in school this year...

Alex is in 2nd grade this year & guess what, he has the same teacher as last year! He was so excited when he found out he was going to have Mrs. Martin again. It made for such an easy transition back to school for him!

Addy is in 4th grade this year.

And this is her teacher, Mrs. Strube.

Here's Addy on the first day of school.

And Alex!

Addy did this on the first day of school. I was cracking up reading it when she brought it home, especially the last answer!

These are from a day when I went to school & ate lunch with the kids.
The kids had Red Ribbon Week back in October.
Some of the themes this year were...

Spot me being drug free or animal print day.
Addy was thrilled to wear her animal print.

Alex not so much!

Red, white & blue day
Character day

And it wasn't during Red Ribbon week but they also dressed up for 50s day on the 50th day of school!

On election day, the 2nd grade class preformed a musical called Vote. They sang several of the usual patriotic songs.

Plus this one... The Presidential Rap. It was Alex's favorite!

I was presently surprised that Alex actually participated! He was signing (or he said he was just lip singing, but at least his mouth was moving unlike during his Kindergarten graduation) and doing the movements.

Here's his class after the performance.

And some pictures with some of his friends.

On Friday, November 18th Alex had a craft day at school.
The kids rotated between the 2nd grade classroom making several Thanksgiving themed crafts.

Including writing picture stories on paper bags

And making beaded necklaces.

They also made felt bags, spice packs, woven placemats & melted crayons to make candles.

And in addition to all this fun stuff, of course they've been going to school & learning everyday :)

I'm a Little Wolf Scout!

Alex is now a 2nd year Cub Scout, also known as a Wolf Scout!

His advancement ceremony was on May 10th.

During the ceremony, all the Tiger Scouts lined up

& one of the adult members drew scouting symbols on their faces.

Then they took turns walking across the bridge.

As a Wolf Scout, Alex has learned to tie knots

 played games with his den,

and competed in his pack's Raingutter Regatta.

Where he came in 2nd place!

He did so awesome during the races & he showed great sportsmanship.
Nick & I were both SO PROUD of him!

Happy Halloween 2016

Halloween has come & gone but the candy still remains!
(Just kidding, the candy is long gone too! Lol)

Even though Addy knew she wanted to be a ghost for some time, she still had fun trying on costumes at Target.

She tried on her 2 favorite foods, pizza & french fries
and this fun tiger mask!
(Looks very similar to the mask I made in art in high school. Do you still have that mom???)

About a week before Halloween we were booed!

And of course we kept the fun going. Here's our Boo Crew in action!

A few days before Halloween, we finally got around to carving our pumpkins.

Alex went with a minecraft face and Addy with an ant.
After wearing her ghost costume at her Girl Scout Halloween party, Addy realized that that costume was really hard to see out of. So she decided at the very last minute to go trick or treating as a cat instead.

And Alex dressed up as Ash Ketchum.

The boy who catches pokemons.

And his best friend Eren went as Pickachu. They looked perfect together!

I took the kids trick or treating

while Nick stayed home & passed out candy.

As you can see, they made out like bandits!

You all know that October 31st is Halloween. But what you may not know is that October 31st is also a super special day in our house. It's Bailey's birthday. And this year Bailey turned 20 years old!

Since a cat turning 20 is a huge milestone, Addy wanted to do something special for Bay. So she took it upon herself to throw him a birthday party!

She made a banner

and a party game. And hung them both at Bailey's eye level.

She also made him a birthday card

and a party hat!

We all sang 'Happy Birthday' to Bailey & he ended his special night with some cat treats & milk!
