SOE Field Day was on Friday, May 1st. The past 3 years that Addy has been at Scanlan Oaks, Field Day has mostly consisted of bouncy houses & inflatables. But this year was different. This year was a throwback to what Field Day was like when I was in elementary school. (Well kind of anyway.) The theme was Keeping It Old School & it was a lot of fun!
There were 10 stations set up outside. The plan was for the classes to be able to rotate between all 10 stations in a one hour time slot. Unfortunately, that did not happen & the classes made it to 6 or 7 of the stations. The kids didn't even realize that they didn't get to do everything & had lots & lots of fun at the stations they did go to!
The day started with Kindergarten.

The day started with Kindergarten.
Some of the stations that Alex's class participated in were...
The 3 legged race
where Alex was partnered up with Avery.
My son is not the most coordinated child though & they fell down 3 or 4 times!
The obstacle course.
The 'When Pigs Fly' plastic pig toss
And the Scooter Relay Races.
Alex's class did a few more of the stations, but I was subbing for another Kindergarten class so I didn't get to see him do everything.
2nd Grade came out to Field Day around 10:30ish.
Some of the stations that Addy's class participated in were...
The Ballon Pop
The Scooter Relay Races.
When Pigs Fly.
The Sack Races.
And the Egg & Spoon Race.
Her class also did the game where they tried to fill up a bucket by squeezing water out of sponges. Addy did not participate in that one though because she did not want to get wet!
Another thing that was different this year was that the kids got to watch a magic show as part of Field Day. Alex said the magician was awesome!
And as always, the kids got to eat a Kona ice snow cone.
(Or as Alex calls it, a cone of ice!)
