New York City- Day 1

The last weekend in January, I went on a girls trip to NYC with my mom, aunt Susan, Molly, Brooke, Kelci & Jeff.

I was supposed to go on this same vacation 3 years ago, but I pulled a muscle in my back & had to miss it. So when it was suggested this time, there was NO WAY that I was going to miss it!

We had an early morning flight on Thursday from Houston to Newark.

From Newark, we took a car to our hotel

which was the Hilton on 6th Street.

It had this fun selfie station in the lobby. (Which we took advantage of. A LOT.)

We checked into the hotel & dropped our luggage in our rooms & then set off to have lunch & explore the town!

Our first stop was lunch at Ray's Pizza, a little pizzeria right around the corner from our hotel.

New York style pizza is my favorite & this pizza was pretty good.
(But it was no Grimaldi's or Juliana's!)

Our next stop was St. Patrick's Cathedral on 5th Ave.
It was absolutely beautiful!

From there, we went across the street to Rockefeller Center.

And we saw lots of other fun & interesting stuff while walking around that day...

(Why yes, this is a dog wearing shoes!)

Around 6:00, we headed back to the hotel to get ready to go to Times Square

and to see School of Rock on Broadway!

School of Rock was not at the top of my list of shows I wanted to see & so I wasn't exactly thrilled about seeing it. But I also didn't want to see anything by myself. (Well, more like Nick asked me to please not wander around the city by myself. So I respected his wishes & went with everyone else to School of Rock.) And I have to say, I'm so happy I went along. The show was AWESOME!
And the music was even better!

School of Rock was at the Winter Garden Theater

which was right next door to Ellen's Stardust Diner.
So where do you think we went for dinner after the show???

You are correct... Ellen's Stardust Diner

Where the waitstaff are aspiring Broadway stars
& they sing & dance all night long!

And while we were there, we celebrated Molly's birthday!

Day 1 was the perfect introduction to the greatest city in the world & had me craving more!
