Friday was our second day in New York. We had tickets for the 9:30am ferry to the Statue of Liberty & to get there, we had to take the subway all the way to the bottom of Manhattan. Needless to say, it was another early morning!
We arrived at Battery Park & quickly boarded the ferry.
We arrived at Battery Park & quickly boarded the ferry.
Even though the weather was dismal, the views from the ferry were far from it!
Molly had forgotten her ticket & so she & Brooke missed the ferry.
So when the rest of us arrived at the Statue of Liberty island,
we played in the snow while we waited for them.
There's a table under there!
Once Brooke & Molly arrived, we grabbed our audio tours & started our tour of the grounds.
And then headed inside the museum
and up to the top of the pedestal.
We really wanted to go to the top of the torch, but those tickets were already sold out when we bought ours.
When we finished our tour of the Statue of Liberty, we boarded another ferry to Ellis Island, where we spent the rest of the day.
When we made it back to Manhattan, we walked around Battery Park a bit.
And then took the subway back to our hotel.
Even though we'd had a full day of walking around, I wasn't tired & wanted to do something else.
So Kelci, Jeff & I decided to go to the Empire State Building.
We bought tickets to the Main Deck on the 86th floor.
We had to take an elevator to the 80th floor
and then switch elevators to go to the rest of the way.

It was SO SO SO cold on the observation deck! We kept having to go inside to warm up. I had to take my gloves off to take pictures (even though they claimed to be 'tech' gloves) and when I did, my hands were FREEZING! Braving the cold was well worth the views though!
This was such an awesome day! And pretty much the whole day I kept thinking how much Nick would have loved to see everything. I can't wait to go back & bring him with me :)
