Happy Mother's Day!

First off, I want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to 2 wonderful ladies in my life, my momma & my mother in law. You both are such amazing women who love their families & have been great examples to both Nick & I. I love you both so much!

And now, let me tell you about my Mother's Day.
(Well, it was really more of a Mother's Weekend than a Mother's Day.)

It started on Friday when there was a knock on the door & these 2 dozen roses were waiting for me.

And then a few hours later, this giant red box was delivered.

Curious as to what was in the box??? I know I was!

It's this really cool picture frame collection from Red Envelope. It's so nice, but I have no idea where to hang it just yet. Anyone have a suggestion?

And when I picked up Addy from school, I had even more Mother's Day surprises.

And a cute little planter that she painted at school. The butterflies on it are her fingerprints.

On Saturday, I got the kids to help me wash my car. I told them it was a great Mother's Day present for me.

Sunday morning, we woke & were hanging around the house. Nick told the kids, "You know today is Mother's Day." Alex said "Oh yea, I love my mommy!" He's such a sweetie!

I asked Alex "What do you want to do for Mother's Day?" And he told me "Well, I already washed your car yesterday!" Lol! That he did! I guess he's all settled up then!

But when Nick suggested that we go swimmming, both him & Addy said "YES!" (So I guess Alex could do one more small favor for me on Mother's Day. He would go swimming, but only if mommy really really wanted him to, lol.)

And so I spent Sunday swimming, eating, playing in the back yard, laying out & reading! Basically, I got to have a lazy & relaxing day with my family. I even had time to organize my Pinterest boards!!!

I couldn't have asked for a better Mother's Weekend & I definitely couldn't ask for a better family. I'm not sure how, but somehow out of all the kids in the world, I have the 2 most amazing ones! I absolutely love being a mother to my sweet sweet kids!

The weekend before last, Molly, Hannah & Clark came over to hang out for the day.

We played on the swingset

and monkey bars.

We played baseball (which Clark is really good at!)

We rode the rollercoaster. (Well, they rode the rollercoaster, I did not. I'm too big to ride that rollercoaster!)

We played hide & seek. (Clark hiding in the clubhouse.)

And we played with the stomp rocket. (And I got it stuck on the roof & had to get a ladder & climb up & get it.)

We had a picnic lunch on the back porch.

We went for a walk. The girls walked

& the boys rode in the wagon.

The plan was to walk to the lake & feed bread to the ducks. But as soon as we got near the water, I spotted a snake slithering out of the water & so we RAN back to the sidewalk & walked back home.

And we made cupcakes.

Aren't these some pretty cupcakes! Strawberry & chocolate with sprinkles!

And not only were they pretty, but they were really yummy too!

And Addy even ate a couple chocolate ones (no icing though. She's so my child!!!)

I was so glad that the kids got to spend the day playing with their cousins. They both had lots of fun & I did too. We can't wait to have another playdate with them!

One Last Playdate...

Our good friends Britany & Keith moved to Atlanta this past weekend :( We were really sad to see them go.

Their son Clay is 6 months younger than Alex & they are great friends! (According to Alex, Clay is his best friend in the whole world & sometimes he even says Clay is his cousin.) Britany had a lot to finish up on Friday so Clay spent all day at our house. I'm really glad that the boys got to have this one last day to play together.

I dug up a plant right here & haven't filled in the hole yet. And since the boys were playing with the water hose, the hole became a muddy pool. Alex thought that was really really cool!


Standing in that hole = THIS (which meant it was bath time after playing outside!)

Clay was not so sure about the big muddy hole. He went for the smaller, less muddy hole. Good choice Clay, good choice!

After playing outside, the boys got a bath, ate pizza for dinner & played inside the rest of the evening.

Alex is still young & doesn't get the concept that Clay moved. Which I think will probably make it easier on him. Clay (and his mommy & daddy) will be missed by not only Alex, but also Addy (who says "Let's go to Clay's house") and this mommy right here.

Lately...

The last couple of weeks have flown by. It seems like we've been super busy, but honestly, there hasn't been that much going on. Just your normal day to day activites & appointments, but those are the things that keep me busy. So here's what's been going on in our home...

Alex had a dentist appointment. He had his teeth cleaned & got one filling. His top 2 teeth in the front are really close together & now I have to floss them. And yes, that has been lots of fun!

We were playing around while waiting for the dentist.

I went to Peyton's 10th birthday party. I had a great time seeing everyone & catching up. I played on the Velcro wall with Jessica. It was a lot of fun but the suits were VERY uncomfortable!

The weather has been ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL lately so we've been playing in the backyard a lot.

The kids LOVE to water my plants.

Because of the building restrictions in our area, there aren't any snow cone stands around :( But luckily, there is a Kona shaved ice truck that comes around every couple of weeks so that we can get our snow cone fix!

I ran over some random piece of metal in the street & woke up the next morning with a flat tire. So Nick had to change my tire for me & then Alex & I spent 2 hours at Discount Tire. We made the most of it by walking around, hiding & Alex pretending that he was a boat captain & the rims were his steering wheel.

Alex really wanted to help change my tire but he settled for getting to watch.

Last time we were in Beaumont, Nick & I went on our April date. It was another dinner & a movie night. We ate at our very very favorite restaurant Carmela's and then went & saw The Hunger Games.

The kids and I have been having fun with flowers. I showed them how to make flower necklaces & how to blow on dandelions.

And of course we've been going to the playground as often as possible.
