Alex's hair was in DESPERATE need of a trim. But I've been putting off bringing him after our first attempt. (It was a nightmare!) But then yesterday I decided it's time! So off to Snip It's we went.
When we got there, the stylist was really nice & talking to Alex. She asked him if he was ready to get his hair cut & he said "Yea," and walked over to her chair. He climbed up, sat down & let her buckle him in. I was really amazed & was thinking Wow, this is going to be a breeze, what was I even worried about!?!
And then, the stylist put the cape around Alex's neck, and it went downhill from there! He started yanking it off and saying no, then crying and saying "Help me mommy, hold me mommy." Then he gave me a big hug and wouldn't let go. The stylist started to spray his hair with water while he was still tightly hugging my neck.
The stylist had given him a lollipop, but that didn't work. Then another one came over & blew bubbles for Alex. That didn't make a difference either. But I did finally get him to calm down by bribing him with ICE CREAM! (He loves ice cream, matter of fact he told me he wanted ice cream for breakfast a couple of days ago, lol.) So I told him that if he sits nicely & lets the stylist cut his hair I would take him to get some ice cream. And he said "Ok mommy!" And then he simpy sat there and let her cut it. He even let her use the clippers around his ears & on his neck.
When his haircut was finished, the stylist dusted him off & Alex took his card & put it in the "magic machine" and got a prize for being such a big boy!
And of course, the next thing that we did was go straight to Baskin Robbins to get Alex his ice cream. I picked him up & let him look at all the different flavors they had. He chose chocolate chip ice cream in a chocolate dipped waffle cone. And he LOVED it! We sat at the table and talked while he ate the WHOLE thing! (First with a spoon, then with the cone)
Alex told me his ice cream was "yummy in my tummy!"
(And I say it was well worth a haircut!)
